Where with taxonomy as null?

There is no null option for taxonomy relationships as this isn’t metadata. You could search for NOT EXISTS.

I would think: taxonomyname.term_id NOT EXISTS

This is the accepted way: taxonomy_name.term_id IS NULL

If that is not working, try adding this to a URL while logged in as an admin: ?pods_debug_sql=1
