Which backup method

  • Given the WP upgrade I’m scrambling to get a backup done. I understand there are two separate things to be backed up, files and the database. I now have Transmit to backup the files, once I figure out which files to backup. The I’m not sure just how to backup the database. It’s seems that this can be done from the WP Dash Board using Export or from phpMyAdmin in Hostgator. Which will give me the best backup for a re-install if needed ?

  • From my own experience with several manual methods and several plugins, as well as several host backup methods, I found this works best for me:

    The major advantage, at least for me, is that it allows me to restore my web site to another domain name or URL. But I guess I really like it most for the fact that it does other things, too, like Moving a web site to a new host, etc.
