Which ‘Blocks’ for WordPress, so many plugins?

    I’ve just taken out a hosting package with Ionos for managed WordPress and Ionos tech support said I have to install Blocks myself via the Plugins, but when I search for ‘Blocks’ so many options come up, such as:

    Spectra – WordPress Gutenberg Blocks

    Otter Blocks – Gutenberg Blocks, Page Builder…

    Gutenberg Blocks with AI by Kadence…

    I thought WordPress had it’s own built-in Blocks, if not, can anybody advise me which ‘Blocks’ plugin I need to install from these many options.

    I’ve heard that WordPress’s ‘Blocks’ (which ever plugin that is?) is the easiest and most future proof, compared to things like Elementor etc, advice on this too please.

    There is no special plugin for blocks, the blocks system is built into the editor, by default.

    You don’t have to install a plugin to use the block editor, you can just start using it. Additionally, if you want to try a block enabled theme, the latest 2024 theme is such a theme and you can use it directly after installing WordPress. It may not look exactly the way you want your site to look, but it works and it will give you insights on how to use the editors.

    In addition: the plugins you mentioned above are collections of blocks that are not included in WordPress in this form. Some of them are completely new functions, others are additions to existing blocks.
