Which is best for SEO ‘language is set from content’ or not?
-
Hi,
Trying to get the most from this plugin which is great!
But hoping someone can help.
1 – The setting “language is set from content” tick box.
If this is ticked it says URLS etc are not modified? So do the search engines rely on the meta to recognise each versions of the page?
– Is it a good or bad thing for search recognition?
– Especially when creating new versions of posts etc…?2 – The other option “Hide URL language information for default language”, we unchecked this so we could display the following in the meta:
<link rel=”alternate” href=”https://www.website.com/” hreflang=”x-default” />
But when checked it adds the default language code to each page, ie /en
– So How do search engines react to this? Is it a good or bad thing, especially for an already established website…
We found a work around, we unchecked the box and then manually added this to the header template.
<link rel=”alternate” href=”https://www.website.com/” hreflang=”x-default” />
(We no longer have the /en on the default language pages).
Welcome feedback from others!
Many thanks ??
