Which Members plugin should I use? Help!

  • I am going to make a WordPress membership website, and I am trying to figure out which of the many membership plugins would be best for me (wp-members, wish list, magic, easyPayPal, etc.). Help! Here is what my website needs:

    – A way for people to sign up to be a member (name, email, address, etc.) and pay for membership. Once they sign up, they have a username and password with which they can login at a later time.
    – Members can use their user/pass to login and view their own specific account information (name, email, address, and membership status). They can update their address, etc., through a form on the website.

    I am hoping to use PayPal or something similar to pay for the memberships, which will be either annual or one-time (lifetime).

    I will use Paypal or something similar to allow members to pay on the website, however, they can put in their own dollar totals. I don’t need any kind of shopping cart or anything.

    So what would be the best plugin? Thank you in advance.

    You should check out the WPMUDEV Membership plugin.

    They even have a Premium Membership LITE version you can try first.

    It allows you to create a membership level (just one, yes, as it seems that’s what you’re needing) and uses paypal for payments. The premium version also includes a Paypal Single Payments Gateway.

    There are various plugins that your users can use to update their default WP Profile info on the front end, or you can use an additional plugin to create a more robust profile area (there are many in the repository or you can even try buddypress)

    It will meet all of the requirements you state above, and much much more. The only exception being that it will not allow your members to put in their own dollar totals. I am not aware of any membership plugins that allow you to do that. WPMUDEV does provide a Fundraiser plugin that you could adapt into your membership workflow if that feature is indeed paramount to your project.
