• Hi,

since last mounth, we have a number shown next to the Headline “Veranstaltungen” in the left frame.

We have a white 4 in a red circle. What does this 4 mean? We cannot find any entries that could be meant.

  • Hello,

We’re aware of this issue and will explain. The number is showing orphaned events, which is actually ‘correct’ and is now showing due to a fix we introduced in 5.9.7. The side-effect is uncovers the fact that orphaned events can exist more obviously.

To correct that number, visit Events > Settings > Admin Tools and then click the ‘Remove Orphaned Events’ button. You’ll notice that in the description the number should correspond to the difference in that menu number.

The other issue is orphaned events. These happen when the event isn’t properly deleted. The problem is it does not happen all the time, and we have been unable to reproduce the problem due to its rarity. If you ever notice that the number is off whilst deleting events or performing an action, we’d appreciate knowing the steps taken. If we can reproduce the issue, fixing the problem becomes a possibility.

    Hi, perfect explanation!
I checked the events again, there were none that were in the trash.
There were actually 4 orphaned entries that are now deleted. Perfect!

I am happy to support. We mostly have “recurring events”. I just deleted an event from 01.01.2019, and then a 1 became visible. However, I can now also find this entry because it is shown to me in the trash. That was not the case with the other 4 entries. If I open the trash, I can see the event. I can now restore the event, then the 1 disappears and the event is again in the overview.

    Hello,

Thanks that you’re liking our plugin. Currently I’m quite confused, Just to confirm. It happens when your restored a Deleted event or an event that is already from the Trash? Would it be possible to just empty the trash (Delete Permanently) There’s a chance that the event meta data are lost, You could however re-create those if you could restore the Event and Edit then Re-publish.

Hi, sorry about the confusion. I′m german, and I try to translate as good as I can.

We have many events, most of them generated by an recurring event.
Actually the trash is empty, and when I delete one of the events, which are in the past, this event is moved into the trash and additionally a white 1 is shown in the red circle.

When I restore this event, the 1 disappears.

    Here an example for you.

at the moment, we are still trying to replicate this issue and looks like ‘Remove Orphaned Events’ button works perfectly on our test sites.

I have the same problem with a notification of 2 events: white text in red disc.

This is on one site of a multisite with the event manager plugin network enabled. I currently have no future events and no bin.

The website is hosted on 1 and 1 Ionos in the UK, with a MySql 5.7 database and php 7.2.

There is only one blog so there’s no blog 1 or blog 2 etc tables

I am the network admin and I keep on forgetting to change the author to the default subsite author, so I keep going back to changeover the event author ( within the admin ).

Looking at _em_events in PhpMyAdmin I can see that most of the event owners are ID 4 which is the correct author, but the first 9 events have id 1, which is the original ID they were supposed to be changed from. Looking at the posts on the web admin they all have the corrected author!

Two of the tables ( event id 30 & 31 ) have event status 0 – All the other tables are marked with event status 1.

‘Remove Orphaned Events’ is not on the website admin but it is in the multisite admin – but either way, it doesn’t make any difference to the problem notifications…

After Running it I get the status message ‘Found 2 orphaned events, deleted 2 successfully’ but it doesn’t make the notification disappear on the website’s admin. If I repeatedly use the button I get the same status message but no change….
