• Hi everyone,

When I want to go on my website (https://www.aikidoouest.com or https://www.westislandaikido.net), a white page loads. It looks like it’s trying to connect (the loading circle in the tab from Chrome goes crazy), but doesn’t succeed. What is weird is that sometimes the site DOES appear. But more often than not, it doesn’t. I tried clearing my cache, using a different browser, using different computers/smartphones, etc.

This is also the case when I want to log in to my account to make changes on the website for example. I don’t even have access to the back-end administrative part of my site.

Your help would be greatly appreciated!

The blog I need help with is aikidoouest.com.

  • Apparently it gets stuck after <meta http-equiv="refresh" content="0; url=https://aikidoouest.wordpress.com/">, which is to be expected because this meta tag tells the browser to redirect to https://aikidoouest.wordpress.com/ after zero seconds. Yet https://aikidoouest.wordpress.com/ redirects back to https://www.aikidoouest.com. So, you’d need to remove that meta tag.

If your blog is at WordPress.com, however, you may want to get help there. www.ads-software.com is for self hosted sites.

I hope that helps. GL with it!

I’m having a similar problem that I just noticed yesterday. At first, I thought maybe someone hacked into BlueHost so I changed my password. My website, https://www.angelfiredesigns.com, goes to just a blank white page. I’m using WP.org, installed through BlueHost. I’m using the Virtue Premium theme from Kadence. I can’t even disable the plug-ins because every time I try to go to a different option, the entire site goes blank.

As for using the WP admin, I am able to log in but then, after I go to one of the menu options on the left, such as update my plug-ins, it won’t update and if I try to go to another option, it goes to a blank white page. At one point, it landed on my subscriber list page but when I went to the 2nd page of that list, it went blank.

If I try to access “WordPress Tools” in BlueHost, I can see all my account options but if I click on the link “login” to my site, it goes blank, with a super long URL that starts WP-admin but then goes on with code that I have never seen.

I have tried to contact BH with no luck. They used to answer the phone quickly and were very helpful but I’ve been on hold, waiting for someone to answer the line, for over 15 minutes 3 times. I haven’t even bothered to try the chat option and I’m hoping that you might have some insight.

I have my site backed up with Site Backup Pro in BH and also I use UpDraft Plus to backup to GoogleDrive. The last backup was on October 20 and I don’t know why it quit but that may be when the trouble started as I was in China from the 11th to the 19th and then traveling back east so I hadn’t looked at my site since about the 14th.

I use WP.com for the wp-admin and Askimet spam filtering but that page tells me that my site can’t be accessed.

Do I need to completely delete my site and reinstall my backup?

Can you get you your Settings > Permalinks – change them, save them and then change them back and save again.

If you can’t – through your hosting account File Manager – rename your .htaccess file and create a new one with the WordPress defaults in it
    https://codex.www.ads-software.com/htaccess

Can’t get back into WP-admin but I found the .htaccess file in my BH file manager. How do I create a new file with the correct defaults? After that, do I delete the original file?

Depends on your file manager – usually you can rename files and create new files. I would rename the current .htaccess so you still have it just in case – to .htaccess-old. Then create a new file .htaccess and then usually there is a file editor that you can open the file with and edit the contents per the above codex URL.

Ok, I renamed the old file and created a new one and pasted the codex into it but I’m still unable to get into my wp-admin and my site is still a blank page. I think I will have to delete my site and restore from my backup that was before all this started and I haven’t made any edits to the site since then.
    Thanks
