• I’m running a WordPress site right now, and it has just started displaying a white screen whenever I try to do an action like log in, deactivate a plugin, or save a page. The pages seem to save, but it just loads a white screen.

I’ve tried disabling some of the plugins I have installed in the past week before the problem started, and that hasn’t helped so far. Is there anything else that can cause this? And are there any known fixes?

    Thanks!

  • Delete any inactive plugins, then deactivate all of your active plugins (not just some) and also try switching themes.

I’ve deleted the plugins from the directory, but I can’t “deactivate” them because I’m not logged in…

You can also rename the plugins folder via FTP. If you still can’t log in after that, you can also rename your active theme’s folder (not the main themes folder, just your active theme’s folder).

    Hello,

I use a thesis theme for WP and I was updating some code into my back office so I could have an email responder/opt-in form on my site. I must have copied the wrong info into the site, because now my site brings up a white screen. I would go back and work on it, but even, when I go to my wordpress login address, that page is white too. Any ideas?

I solved my problem, not sure if it’s the same as yours though.

I edited my theme’s functions.php file and by accident I added two returns after the closing "?>" which caused the whole site to break.
