I’ve just installed events manager and spent around an hour working through setting up all the information, creating my first event and so on.

The issue is that I can’t view any of the events manager pages. They are always white.

I’ve tried upping the php memory which hasn’t made any difference.

Any help would be very much appreciated. I’m looking for a plugin I can use for booking and payments, but don’t want to spend $75 if the plugin doesn’t work on my site.

All the other pages are still okay, it’s just the events manager pages. Example: https://www.samsdogrules.com/events

    My other plugins are:
    All In One SEO Pack
    Version 2.1.7

    Select Anti-spam by CleanTalk
    Version 2.51

    Select AtContent
    Version 7.9.4.7

    Select Contact Form by vCita
    Version 3.2.1

    Select Digg Digg
    Version 5.3.6

    Select Events Manager
    Version 5.5.3.1

Select Facebook Page Promoter Lightbox Premium
    Version 4.2

    Select Facebook Social Plugin Widgets
    Version 1.3

    Select Feedweb
    Version 2.4.7

    Select MailChimp Form by ContactUs
    Version 2.3.2

    Select MailChimp Widget
    Version 0.8.12

    Select NextScripts: Social Networks Auto-Poster
    Version 3.3.9

Select Rotating Tweets (Twitter widget & shortcode)
    Version 1.7.0

    Select TheCartPress
    Version 1.3.6.1

    Cheers,
    Amanda

  • Hi Amanda,

Sounds like the admin pages are fine, it’s just the front-end pages?

Have you tried re-saving your permalinks?

    Hi,

The admin pages and all the original front end pages are fine, it’s just the front end pages for the events manager.

I’ve not tried re-saving the permalinks. I’ll give that a go when I get home tonight.

    Thanks for the suggestion.

    Cheers,
    Amanda

I’ve been checking on the server as well and I’ve got some blocked outgoing connections that I don’t recognise. They either pull up 404 errors or go to a blank page.

Does anyone know if these are needed by events manager? I’m leaving them blocked for now as I don’t know what they are. If they are needed then I can whitelist them.

I now have an error message:

Fatal error: ob_start() [ref.outcontrol]: Cannot use output buffering in output buffering display handlers in /home/www/samsdogrules.com/wp-content/plugins/events-manager/em-events.php on line 31

Any ideas? Is this something I can fix?

sorry but not getting this issue; Have you tried to temporarily:

    – deactivating all other plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).
    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems

    Thread Starter jamanda

    (@jamanda)

If all the other plugins worked before, then surely the problematic plugin is the Events Manager one? If it doesn’t work with other plugins running then the problem needs fixing in event manager and not the other working plugin. As a developer I make sure my code plays well with others, I don’t expect other people to change their code to accommodate issues in my items – but that’s besides the point.

I’m going to try turning off compression to see if that helps.

I think you’ve misunderstood where Angelo is coming from – it could be that one of the other plugins has something incorrect about it that’s only come to light once Events Manager has been activated.

Given the error you reported, you could be on to something with the compression. Did you get a chance to test without it?

Those connection you mentioned before aren’t connected with Events Manager.

    Thread Starter jamanda

    (@jamanda)

Ah right. Understand now. Issue is that it’s only the event manager pages, so that’s weird.

I’ve tried turning off the compression but no joy, so I’ve emailed my hosting provider the following:

…I’ve been investigating this further and found some answers online, but the fix isn’t working. Every thread I found about this issue said to set compression to false in config.php. Here’s an example of one of the threads. https://ellislab.com/forums/viewthread/84317/

I added this code to my wp-config.php but it’s not making any difference. Do you have compression set anywhere else in the system that could be overriding my config.php?
    $config[‘compress_output’] = FALSE;

If I turn debug on I’m noticing a few other issues cropping up that may be responsible:
Notice: wp_localize_script was called incorrectly. Scripts and styles should not be registered or enqueued until the wp_enqueue_scripts, admin_enqueue_scripts, or login_enqueue_scripts hooks. Please see Debugging in WordPress for more information. (This message was added in version 3.3.) in /home/www/samsdogrules.com/wp-includes/functions.php on line 3245

I’m just off to find where it’s called so that I can move it.

    Cheers,
    Amanda

Hmm… the host can’t figure it out either, just got this back from them “I am afraid that we weren’t able to resolve the issue with the plugin, please try reinstalling it and if the issue persists contact the plugin’s vendors for additional information”.

    Thread Starter jamanda

    (@jamanda)

Time to try a different plugin.

Here is how I configure debugging so only my IP displays debugging info, and only when I use a URL parameter:
    https://www.glerner.com/wordpress-debugging-only-you.php

That wp-includes/functions.php on line 3245 is the line Reporting the error, not the line Causing the error. Try the Log Deprecated Notices plugin (not sure if it works for reporting on this type of error), or see the (quick and dirty) patch method I used in https://lcblog.lernerconsult.com/2014-domain-mapping-wpdbescape-deprecated-fix/ to get the ‘trackback’ info, what function triggered the call to wp_localize_script

@jamanda Have you tried turning off gzip at the server level?
