Via FTP, change the name on the active theme folder and make sure that you have a default theme in the themes folder – WP will then default to that one and let you login.

    Which theme is this?

how do i know if i have a default theme?
If i change the name on the current theme and install the new updated theme again, would that work.
I think i maybe tried to cancel the update before all the files carried over in a panic?

sorry its a free one called slated

Default just mean one of the twenty-something themes that comes with WP. So twentyfourteen should be there unless you’ve deleted it.

If the updated version caused it to crash, it may do that again. Since that theme is not from this site, we really cannot provide any theme-specific support, as these forums only support themes from here:

    https://www.ads-software.com/themes/

BTW, you really might want to consider changing to a theme from this site, as they are all tested to meet WP standards and released under GPL.

oh tell me about it – ive taken over this after someonw else set it up.
Have bought a theme from elegant themes but i havent started testing it yet.
I cant see a default theme in there so Im just going to try to reinstall the updated one – fingers crossed!

would you happen to know how to activate that theme from the cpanel

    JenR

    (@jennifer-roberts)

Okay, glad to hear that. You can just upload a copy of twentyfourteen if that doesn’t work.

    Thread Starter coracall

    (@coracall)

if i do that am i going to have to redo everything?

    Thread Starter coracall

    (@coracall)

ok so reinstalled it in the cpanel and changed the name of the old theme – still blank.
I uploaded twentyfourteen, changed the name of the other themes in the folder and its still blank.
Should i be activiating a theme somewhere or is it automatic?

    JenR

    (@jennifer-roberts)

It should be automatic – if the other theme(s) is renamed (or removed), WP should use twentyfourteen.

If that’s not working, try renaming the plugins folder – as it might be a plugin causing problems.

    Thread Starter coracall

    (@coracall)

just tried that and its still blank… oh my word…

    Thread Starter coracall

    (@coracall)

ok have just got a basic site up
    https://coracall.com/category/services/
nothing works on it and i still cant get to the admin panel – im seriously lost here???

    JenR

    (@jennifer-roberts)

What if you now switch to another theme – to see if it’s that theme.

    Thread Starter coracall

    (@coracall)

just trying it now – i dont understand as it changed to the link above after i had changed the theme names back to their original ones – is there a delay maybe?

    Thread Starter coracall

    (@coracall)

i changed the name of the twentyfourteen theme and uploaded our new paid for theme and now the screen is blank again?
