white screen of death

  • Hi,

    I tried installing the Education Care theme on my subdomain vls.putintowords.ca and when I try to activate the theme, I keep getting the white screen of death and then I can no longer access anything in the WP admin interface.

    I called customer support for my host and it’s not a problem with the plugins but rather the theme itself.

    Has anyone else experienced this and how did you resolve it?

    do you mind taking a look at this?

    The error we are getting is [Fri Oct 13 09:11:10 2017] [warn] [client 12.234.678.9] mod_fcgid: stderr: PHP Fatal error: Can't use method return value in write context in /path-to-wordpress/wp-content/themes/education-care/inc/customizer/get-options.php on line 143.

    Edit: This might be related to the fact that the site currently runs on PHP 5.3.* and we are not able to upgrade the PHP version due to a bug in our hosing environment.
    @taruska, what PHP version are you running?

    If it’s really related to this, the theme should not be updated, instead we should manage to update our PHP version.

    Hi @tyrannous,

    There were few functions which do not support php 5.2. We have fixed them and updated theme. Please update theme to latest version. Hope it will solve your issue.
