White Screen of Death lingers

    I’ve installed on a new site. Logs show:

    Failed to read FastCGI header, referer: https://mysite.com/wp-admin/update.php?action=install-plugin&plugin=comet-cache&_wpnonce=8c6ca7e6a3
[Mon Feb 22 18:08:06 2016] [error] [client 24.xx.xx.xx] (104)Connection reset by peer: AH01075: Error dispatching request to : , referer: https://mysite.com/wp-admin/update.php?action=install-plugin&plugin=comet-cache&_wpnonce=8c6ca7e6a3

    Then I get a 503 error

    I am reporting all our sites that are using php-fpm and mod_proxy_fcgi.
    Server API FPM/FastCGI php v. 5.5.21
    Comet Cache fails to install.

    @tradenet We have a related bug report open here: https://github.com/websharks/comet-cache/issues/671 Can you confirm if this sounds like the same issue? There are also a few debugging tips on that issue.

    Yes it looks like the same issue. Noticing the same file locking in /tmp

    @tradenet File locking is normal. That’s part of what Comet Cache does. Are you noticing something odd about the files in /tmp?

    Not really. I did notice this from yesterday but I can’t reproduce it again today.
    PHP Fatal error: Uncaught exception 'Exception' with message 'Doing it wrong! Missingbase_diroption value. MUST call this method aftersetup().' in /home/website/html/wp-content/plugins/zencache/zencache.inc.php:2016

    One thing though zencache worked great before these updates.

    @tradenet That fatal error from ZenCache seems like an anomaly and unrelated to this issue with Comet Cache. That particular error message indicates that a part of ZenCache was run before everything was finished being set up. If you’re not seeing that particular error consistently, it would be safe to ignore it.

    If you find any other details that could help us track down the Comet Cache issue, which appears to be related to a specific server configuration that uses FastCGI, please let us know. We’re still investigating this and will be positing updates on https://github.com/websharks/comet-cache/issues/671
