I uploaded some plugins and the screen went blank. Tried to access my admin page and that, too, is blank.

I’m new to this and my instinct is to go in through the back-end and access the databases and delete any plug-ins. Is there an easy way to search for plug-ins? I used the search term “plug-in” and “plugin” and not enough stuff came up. I’m afraid to delete anything back there in fear of making everything much, much worse.

    Thoughts?

  • jasmina, if you have FTP access, you can go in to the /wp-content/plugins/ folder and delete (backup first) any of the new plugins you think may be causing your issue. Then, when you try and access your site, WP will deactivate the missing plugin and you should be able to gain access to your site again. Try removing them one at a time to see if you can figure out which plugin is causing the issue.

What’s the easiest way to do a manual back-up?
One of my new plug-ins was supposed to be a backer-upper ??

I think I figured it out. Googled how to back up website with Filezilla and it seems to be working. Thanks again!

For a one-time backup that is likely temporary, I would have just used FTP and downloaded a copy of the entire wp-content/plugins folder to my local drive. That way, once everything was back in working order you could just delete it.

Thanks again, VegasGeek. Apparently I had problems with PollDaddy and Digg Digg Plug-ins.
