• Hi everyone,
I am currently experiencing an issue whereby I am greeted with a white screen every time I try to access my website URL. I am also unable to log in to my dashboard as putting in my address/wp-admin also gives me a white screen.
Timeline: -Oct 16: Gave website complete revamp, new theme, new plugins etc. Everything was harmonised and working fine.
    – Jan 16: Was greeted with an Awardspace (my host) error, found out this was due to their virus protection flagging files as a virus just because plugins were out of date. Updated wordpress, theme and plugins, and relaunched website. Everything fine.
-Feb 16: White screen as above, I haven’t chnged anyhting in a month and it was all working fine. I researched white screen, found most places said it was due to plugins. Remotely disabled all plugins from Awardspace and I am still experiencing this issue.
I am a massive noob when it comes to websites, know nothing about code etc. I took over managing and modernising this website as a voluntary role on top of my uni studies.
I literally have no idea what to do, please help!!!

  • What’s in your php error logs? You may need to contact your host to get exactly where they store them or they might be in your WordPress site’s website root. That should give you what exactly is erroring. Frequently deactivating plugins can help but sometimes the errors are in the theme or in a core file due to the theme or plugin modifying them.

Sorry, but I have no idea what you mean, I went on to awardspace and the area that says error log gave me this message ‘Not Found

The requested URL /logs/error.1/ccn-a.co.uk.log was not found on this server.’
What do you mean by wordpress site website root?
    I’m so confused ??

These errors are often caused by plugins or themes conflicts, a good place to start troubleshooting would be to manually disable your plugins, you said youve done this already so how this didn't solve resolve the issue, youll need to disable the current theme.

To do this you’ll just need to access your server via SFTP or FTP, or a file manager, navigate to /wp-content/themes/ and rename the directory of your active theme, doing this will force the default theme to activate, and hopefully your site will load with the default theme.

If none of the above work, please have a look in your server’s/account error_log file and paste any relevant errors here. If you don`t know how to find it you can always ask your hosting provider to give you a hand or tutorial.

I have contacted awardspace and they have said that I was definitely looking in the right place for error logs and it says not found because there aren’t any. I have also now tried manually disabling the theme as well as plugins and am still presented with a white screen on my url and wordpress login page. Any other ideas? :S
