• We used to have a post “sticky” so it appeared as the first post every time on the home page only. We have removed that post and just want our most recent post appearing first. We have a slight issue, as you can see at michelphoto.com there is a large chunk of white space above the first post and a blue dash. We have tried multiple ways to fix all this and just are having no luck. Ideally we would like the blue dash, and white space removed, and the first post to appear at the top of the page like its supposed to. Thank you to anyone that can help! We greatly appreciate it!!!

  • I can’t see a large chunk of white space above the first post and a blue dash using Firefox 6.

Thanks for the fast response, maybe I should have stated I am on a mac, but oddly enough it shows up using firefox or safari here.

Here is a link to a screenshot that shows exactly what I am seeing, I put a red box around the area. Thanks again for anyone that takes the time to look at this! Its greatly appreciated!

Oh – the page has changed! I saw the output from some sort of Facebook Like plugin at the top before. It looks like your theme is configured to have some featured content at the top of the page. Because that featured content hasn’t been set, you’re seeing the outline of an empty box. Do you intend to have featured content?

Well, we used to have a featured post, but I removed it today. In the theme settings, you can select which category will be “featured” I have set that to none. So moving forward we do not want a featured post, we want the site just like it is, minus the dash and white space.

I would think there has to be a way to get rid of that dash and white space, but its got me stumped.

    Try adding:

    div.featured_box {display:none;}

to the bottom of your theme’s stylesheet.

Thank you very much for the suggestion, I tried it with great hope, although it did not work ??

I wanted you to see what initially got me trying to remove the featured post. We installed Facebook comments and as you see it, it overlays the featured posts Facebook comments over and behind the following post.

If I could somehow remove the Facebook comments from just the featured post, I would be happy, but I see no way of doing that.

Please check out michelphoto.com again and you will see what I am talking about with the Facebook comments issue.

Thanks again for your time, you have helped so many people over the years and I know I am grateful for that!

Just to double check, the correct place to put the code you gave me is at the bottom of style.css Thats where I placed it

Also I thought I should provide a screenshot in regards to the above post. As you can see the Facebook comments and the featured post are doing too well lol

Yes. Your other issues are completely separate.

Thanks for verifying that. Yeah, I understand they are separate, I just wanted to explain that the reason I was trying to remove the featured post in the first place is because of what that Facebook comments is doing to the featured post. Thanks for your help, unfortunately I am thinking its time for a new template or back to the drawing board cause that white space and blue dash aren’t very appealing lol.

Or you could try another Facebook plugin. Having recently been looking at some of these plugins recently, there is quite a range of… um… quality… out there.

That’s a good suggestion, I went with “Facebook Comments” 1.2.7

Not sure if you have any experience with that one or recommend anything else, but I will definitely look around and try a few other Facebook plugins. Thanks again for all your help and time esmi

Nope – don’t think I tried that one. I ended up with a Facebook Fan Box plugin (Simple Facebook Plugin) for my client as it was more appropriate for her site.

Okay, thanks for sharing what you used, I will look into it ??
