    Hello curiousworld,

Yes – you can use the widget’s CSS settings to decrease the whitespace or totally remove it.

If you could send me a link to your site and a place where the widget is placed I’ll be able to send you the code here.

    Regards,
    Rafal

    Thank you.

The site is https://www.krema.co.uk/ but you will need to login to see the site. Can you email me at [moderated] and I will give you log in details. You will see I have made the widgets background orange and it is the block at the bottom which I would like to remove.

    Thanks

@curiousworld, Please don’t give away your login details. If you’re using posting on these forums then you should be comfortable with the level of support you can receive on them. The support is limited to textual, imagery and sometimes video. If that’s not enough then maybe the forums aren’t right for you.

    Hello Andrew,

Thanks for jumping in. So how could I help her out in that case without gaining access to her site? Without private messages this is not possible ??

    Regards,
    Rafal

So you say you don’t know the answer. It is not your responsibility as one plugin author to log into someone else’s website.

    Plugin Author Rafa? Gicgier

    (@gicolek)

It’s not my responsibility but I’m willing to do so to help her. Obviously logging in to someone’s site is sometimes required to see someone’s setup. Besides the user can always give a very limited access to the site.

Why can’t I decide on that matter?

    Boilerplate answer…

@gicolek, I’m am 100% sure you mean well but please never ask for credentials on these forums or log into user’s sites that way.

Now for the why: The internet is a wonderful place full of very nice people and a few very bad ones. I’m sure everyone here is very nice however, by giving some ones keys to your house you are trusting they wont steal anything. Likewise the person who takes the keys is now responsible for the house FOREVER.

If something was to go wrong, then you the author may well legally become liable for damages, which they would not normally have been as their software is provided without warranty.

Please be aware that repeatedly asking for credentials will result in us asking you to repeatedly stop before escalating up to the plugins team.

    @andrew

You’re correct about that ?? However I wasn’t the one to ask her for the login details but for the link to the site, which usually is a public entity. It was curiousworld idea to provide me with the login details which I imagine offer only access to the Front End facing view of the site.

    Hence, this

Please be aware that repeatedly asking for credentials will result in us asking you to repeatedly stop before escalating up to the plugins team.

doesn’t seem to apply in that case.

I understand the legal concerns, thank you ??

As a side note I have received an email with what she had posted already which reveals what you had obscured. This will probably repeat before one of you guys jumping in.

@curiousworld in that case without seeing a public facing side of the site I will not be able to provide you with help.

    My suggestion is to use Google Chrome element inspection feature and apply the CSS changes yourself. My bet is that you’ll need to use display: block; on the element in #2. For the number one, you’d need to do something similar, either with padding: #px; or margin: #px;

Let me know if that helps,

    Regards,
    Rafal

Additional answer: what you arrange privately, well away from these forums, is your business. What you arrange publically on these forums is also our business as forum mods and, with the greatest of respect, we do not know you.

So please, don’t do that here.

So how do other plugin authors solve these kind of requests? Obviously in some case scenarios it’s impossible to recreate user’s problem.

I really don’t mind you jumping in and doing what you have to do. I’m just curious on how to overcome such a situation in the future.

Hi, The login does not give access to the code it is just as a subscriber. The client has put Coming Soon Mode on the site as we build it. I do understand the importance of the security and thank you, equally I am still keen for some help please. So my original request still stands if allowed.

Your original points are absolutely allowed, just be aware that CSS issues are unlikely to be resolved without showing people the page with the problem.
