• I just installed the latest stable WordPress and wanted to enter text into a new page. I tried to do this and noticed that the text in the text-entry box is white even though it’s against a white background.

I took a screenshot to make the situation clear: https://www.petaimg.com/u326/846wp.jpg – you can only see text whilst it is highlighted (which is of course impossible while editing that same text).

I checked and found it the same in both Firefox and InternetExplorer.

• Have you tried:

– deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

– switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-related problems.

renaming the plugins folder via FTP

It’s not the plugins. The only plugins I have are Askimet and WPML Multilingual CMS.

I tried deactivating and renaming the plugins folder, and neither operation eliminated the problem.

The theme is already the default.

I tried it from a different computer and got the same thing.

Sorry to bring this up, but I have the same problem. Even on a clean install!

What browser and OS? That editing form is heavily javascripted and since JS runs on the client machine JS can execute differently on different browsers/OSes.

Newest WordPress
Mac os x Leopard
Firefox 3.5.3

The problem only occurs with the newest WordPress…

hmmm… probably not the OS and browser with stuff that new. Try with Safari though, just for fun.

Oh, forgot to mention that. In Safari I have the same problem..

I have created a new blog today using the latest WordPress and have this problem. White text on a white background when writing a new post. The posts look ok when published.

I’m seeing this in Firefox 3.5.5 and IE8. Doesn’t seem to have anything to do with plugins, have them all deactivated.

If you turn off the visual editor for the user, you can see the text again. That’s hardly a fix though…

has anyone found a solution or reason for this white text on white background in text-entry box? I have the problem in a 2.9.2 install and have no plugins active.

I also notice that the Help and Screen Options tabs in the upper right part of screen do not function on the Edit Post and Add Post screens only. They work fine elsewhere. And the Visual and HTML tabs don’t work on the Edit Post and Add Post screens.

THIs is all the case with two separate WP sites, that were both running fine a week ago. Both are 2.9.2 and both on the same server.

I found a solution for all the issue I had listed above.

Trash the wp-admin and wp-includes folders in your WordPress site and replace with new, clean copies. Then dump cookies and cache from your browser. (I restarted my browser for good measure, though don’t think necessary).

That fixed all my issues (listed above) on both installs of WordPress 2.9.2.

Not sure what the issue was, but found this suggestion at <https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/279132?replies=110> and it worked.

Remember to backup before doing anything and, if it works for you, backup again with the new folders in place.
