Until yesterday, our thumbnails worked fine across all of our image galleries. But today, they have disappeared, and been replaced with white thumbnails. However, the main image will display if any of the white thumbnails are clicked.

I have had this issue before, due to a lazy loader plugin causing the issue, however there are no plugins installed with any sort of lazy load function. I have also disabled each plugin one by one, but to no avail.

Would you guys have any advice? Thank you so much!

    Hi @shenmueguru,

I am sorry but I currently see that all the thumbnails are loading just fine and none of them are white. Can you please update us on the status of this request?

    Thanks

    Hi!!

Yes I can provide an update! I just fixed the issue in the past hour. Hopefully this can help anyone else who has these issues.

The white thumbnail issue will happen because of any plugin that has a “lazy load” feature activated within it. The first time this happened for me was with a plugin called Autoptimize. I removed it a while back, and everything had been fine.

But yesterday, the popular image plugin Smush, had an update, and I am not sure if they added a lazy load feature, or they auto turned on the feature with their latest plugin update. Disabling that caused the thumbnails to display as normal again.

The case is now resolved, and hopefully this helps anyone in the future who may come across this issue.

fyi: in Autoptimize you can exclude images from being lazyload by adding any attribute in the <img tag (e.g. a class-name or the part of the image URL) to the exclusion list.

    hope this helps,

I also have the same problem with white thumbnails. I have deactivated Smush lazy load as you suggested and all works fine. Thank you.

    Hello @shenmueguru

We need to take some notes and escalate this conflict to our developers
We may need to deactivate plugins and switch the theme while troubleshooting temporarily. Would you feel OK with that?. If so, please report this issue as a bug using this form: https://www.imagely.com/report-bug/. Be as specific as possible and let them know Gaby referred you.

Note: do not forget to include this forum’s link.
