whitelist for spam karma?

Hi, I recently installed Spam Karma. It’s blocking spam but it’s also putting any other comments into moderation as well. I tried to add the IP addresses to the whitelist but they were still moderated. is it possible to do this so that friends can automatically comment without being moderated? if so how?
