Yeah….should work with having the default role in WordPress as Subscriber (lowest role) in WordPress.

I don’t think Subscribers can post, only read. I think you’ll need to do at least Contributor for them to be able to post. If the Contributor role is too “loose” then maybe try the Role Manager plugin: https://redalt.com/Resources/Plugins/Role+Manager

I think he only wants them to register and comment though. Would that be Subscriber then?

Default setting is, I think, that no account is needed to post comments. But bottom-rank accounts can certainly post comments (though they still go through the approving comments thing if that is set).

You can change whether you need to register to post in your Dashboard > Options > Discussions.
