• I started a blog today, and intended to make a link to it from my web sites home page.

Apparently, I goofed, and now when you go to what used to be my home page, it goes to the blog instead.

Is there a way to correct this? and if so, how?

    Thanks.

  • Leroy, did you install the blog into it’s own directory? (eg:https://www.yoursite.com/wordpress) as if you didn’t then that may be what the problem is (sorry, trying to clarify)

I thought I was (it was showing up as domain name/blog, but now it shows up by just domain name).

To access the home page now, I must use domain name/index.

On my list of files, it is shown as a folder…not sure if that’s what you meant or not.

Yeah that is what I meant ?? what have you put under wordpress address and blog address in the general options?

virtuallynicky: It’s is just a bit unclear what you did and how you look at things.
If you WordPress installation is in its own directory,
<docroot>/blog, it should contain the index.php file and some other files, among them the wp-config.php.
In that case the address for your blog would be https://yourdomain/blog/

If on the other hand your document root ( the upper most directory containing your web site ) contains the index.php, you didn’t do what you intended to do.

If you want your ordinary web sit ( like I do ), make sure the index.htm or index.html is in your document root and the whole distribution of WordPress is under your blog directory.

The both have domain/blog in those blocks. I think that’s what they should be.

Hope it helps Leroy.. ?? If not I am sure there are wiser souls than me out there that can point you in the right direction ??

Hmm…I have domain/blog in both of those blocks, but it still isn’t acting like I want it to.

To add, the blog shows up at either domain.com/ and domain.com/blog

    I’m very confused.

I guess you have to tell us exactly in which directories you have you ordinary web sites index page and in what directory you have the WordPress index.php file.

Also it could help if you provide a link to your site.

OK, I’m using yahoo and in the file manager section it lists all files. The blog subfolder is at the very top and in it is an index.php, and a homepage-index.php file that when viewed, both go to the domain/blog address, which seems correct.

Also, not in a subfolder is an index.php right below the index.html (which is my home page, or at least I would like it to be). This one goes to domain/index.php. Perhaps I just need to delete this file?

    Thanks again.

jamesriverbluegrass.com/index This NOT a valid address – unles you have a directory called “index”. It has to have some extension…

    Do you mean .html?

I can get to the site either with that or without it, not sure why.

If you put your normal index.html page in your root folder, you shouldn’t see the blog at that addy.

Thanks everybody…everything seems to be working now.

    Thank you very much.

Glad you got it working. Have fun!
