Why am I getting “upgrade error” when auto install plug-ins

I am getting this same error when auto installing several plug-ins even though the plug-in is supposed to be compatible with my version of WP 2.9.2 :

“Downloading install package from https://downloads.www.ads-software.com/plugin/contact-form-7.2.2.zip.

Unpacking the package.

Installing the plugin.
Upgrade error “

Can anyone help me with this?

I’m a WP newbie not familiar with coding.
