Why are posts so difficult to understand?

    I’m trying to create a posts page on a different page of my site. I created 3 posts, when I view them on that page in the default template they show up just on the left hand side under “Recent Posts”. But no posts show up in the center of the page its all blank. If I go to Settings and Reading and selected Front Page Displays and use the Posts page drop down to select that same page it will post the posts in the center of the page but I lose the leftside navigation completely.
