Why are product links "edit" links instead of "view" links on an order page?
-
We’ve created a custom role for customer service reps and granted them all the woocommerce roles they need, but we also took away the “edit product” role, which they do not need (only the product manager should be editing products). This has been working great. But recently a CSR pointed out that since we did this he cannot click on a product from the order detail screen to view the details of that product. He instead has to open a browser tab and pull up the product on the site. When he clicks on the product link from a specific order page (or via the “Purchased” column on the orders list), he gets a “cannot edit” error, which makes sense because the link is an “edit” link (/wp-admin/post.php?post=3837&action=edit). My question is, why is this an edit link? Why can’t it be a view link? We don’t want to add the edit products capability back to CSRs, that just doesn’t make sense. Seems like this should be a view link anyway since someone with edit right could then click on edit post…
