• So strange with the advance functions of WordPress that it is still not possible to take photos from media library and create a new gallery in a new post. I read some old forum threads about this and it was something about that galleries are attached to a specific post but that is not the problem.

The problem is I want to take a couple of photos I already have in the media library and create a new gallery of them. That would be so frikkin basic I can’t believe it does not exist. What I have to do now is upload the same photos like 4-5 times which takes up soooo much space.

Is there any solutions to this? Will they have try to make this work or is there plugins for this? For a photographer like me that uses photos all the time, the site gets so slow.

    Thanks!

  • I′m also at a loss for how to fix this, guess I′ll have to re-upload all images rather than select them from the media library as I would like. I can′t believe there isn′t a solution. I′ll keep searching online.

@jamesveale5 – I’m with you! Let me know if you find anything out. I’m not a coder either but it seems to me to be a fairly straightforward thing to fix. I’ve hunted and hunted and just keep finding myself being pointed back to NextGen. I’m a sculptor and regularly need to add new works of art to my existing galleries, but I keep having to add duplicate images to apear in different galleries on different pages. I’m quite happy with how Nextgen works but I now can’t create new NextGen galleries from the (hundreds of!) pics already in my media library. It’s most vexing!!

It isn’t. And this really is an issue for the various gallery plugins – not WordPress core itself.

I’d be perfectly happy to ask NextGen if there’s a way around this, but if you go to nextgen-galery.com and click on their support tab…guess where it takes you…so here I am…again.

    guess where it takes you

    Not here. Try https://www.ads-software.com/support/plugin/nextgen-gallery

Thanks Esmi. That’s exactly what I did try. And if you go to the bottom and find the search tool, search for threads about adding to gallery from media library and I end up back here. Or another very similar thread in a very similar forum giving very similar (mostly inconclusive) answers.

Use the post form at the bottom of that page.

I’m fairly new to WP, but find this to be a surprising little roadblock. The sites I am working on are image intensive, being able to add shots to a gallery feels from the media library feels like a must have. Did anyone figure out a more simplified workaround?

    Thanks in advance

@simmsimaging — please start your own thread. This one is outdated and likely not relevant since the media library has been changed since then.
