• I have just updated my website to version 4.4 of WordPress (hosted by 123 reg) and have posted a new post to my blog this morning https://www.blossominggardens.co.uk/how-green-is-your-garden/
Although I can upload a jpg file into the media library and upload this in the edit version of my post, I cannot see the picture (I can only see the caption) when I view the published post. I have tried uploading the picture a few times and reinstalling the updated software but this hasn’t helped. I would be grateful if you could give me any advice as to how to rectify this problem.

  • The HTML used to display the image is pretty messed up. Try deleting then re-inserting the image. I’ve in-browser edited your site, corrected the error and the image displays fine.

If re-inserting the image doesn’t fix the problem, there may be something about how you’re inserting images that could be failing.

Thanks for looking into this Dave. I have tried deleting and reloading the jpeg file on my laptop in 2 different web browsers and on my iPad and as a png or a bmp and have tried loading a completely different photograph with no luck whatsoever. I am going to the add media button and uploading the files just as I have always done. Any other tips would be greatly appreciated!

I think it may be a Jetpack related issue. Try disabling the Photon module and see if things go back to normal. You’d probably have to re-insert the image again.

Thanks Dave. I had a wee look at the Photon module but that was already inactive? Any other ideas?

If older images are displaying correctly, then it’s the way new code is inserted that’s causing the problem. So, you’re going to have to bite the bullet and disable all plugins and revert to the default theme. Then try and insert an image into a post and see if it appears, I suspect it will.

Once you’re at that point, re-enable your theme and each of your plugins one by one to see when the problem reappears. I could be your theme itself or maybe a plugin that deals with images. If it’s the theme, you’d be best asking the theme vendor since it’s a commercial theme not supported in here.

    Hi Dave,

I’ve tried disabling the plugins and that made no difference so it looks like it may be the theme. I will contact the theme vendor and see if he has any suggestions. Thanks for your help.
