• Hello there!

I use this great plugin called Captcha!, and I heard that most people that use it are quite happy with it. However, here, Akismet still gets lots of spam, the same quantity no matter Captcha! is on or off!

Can spammers access the comments function directly? Is there anything I can do to prevent it?

    Yours,

    oculos

  • Because spammers are using trackbacks and not comments. They seem to look the same once posted, but they are different.
If, you don’t care about trackbacks, you can disable it. In options -> Discussions uncheck “Attempt to notifiy any weblogs”, and “allow link notification”. In Options -> Miscellaneous, uncheck “Track Links’ Update Times”.
