• I am a ‘greenhorn’ website administrator for a site that I have ‘designed’ and started up for our Class of 59 high school alumni. https://whs59.net/

If you click on that site and click ‘Interactive’ you can check my post replies (by Jerry Isaacs) and see that my name shows up in blue and is a link back to themain page of the website. No other member replies show up this way. Why am I shown as a link? If I have to keep it this way, how can I change the link to my email address as a webmaster link or such?

  • Probably, you can not without hacking core files – which I wouldn’t recommend.

You don’t see it on your blog (because of the login requirement for comments) but look around on the net – or remove that requirement AND log out:
for commenters there are fields like:
    name, email, URL (of website).
If you fill out the URL field > the commenter’s name becomes a link to his/her website. This is a real interactive nature of blogging: if X leaves a genial comment on your blog and some visitors get interested to see more on his website > they can click his name ??
    Isn’t it fun?

When a user logs into to leave a comment, WordPress allows them to enter a Name, Website and Email address. The email address is not shown, but if you enter a website, WordPress does convert this to a link on your name.

To fix this, when you log in to leave a comment, just enter your name and an email address. Do not enter a website. The email address will NOT be converted to a link on your name; its just there to validate you as a user.

If you WANT to have a link to your email address on your name, enter mailto:[email protected] (or whatever your email address is.)

[Woops, I see that moshu and I posted at the same time! ]

If you WANT to have a link to your email address on your name

You may want to reconsider that, unless you need thousands of penis and/or breast enlargement spam emails in your Inbox ??
