• The “advanced” section below each video shows that “open in new tab” is not check-marked for any of the videos.

The same url format is used:
    https://www.instagram.com/p/CyoBBC9LuTY/ plays within my website.
https://www.instagram.com/p/Cxf9drXLWwY/ opens a new tab and goes to instagram

I click the + sign to add a block, type in Instagram, choose the Instagram block (green and white), then paste a url like above.

As you can see on the page, below the big Play icon (an arrow-head) in the middle of the video-image, two of the 4 instagram videos say “play in Instagram”, and the others don’t say that, meaning they play within the page. The ones that open in instagram open muted, even if I turned the sound on when I played the previous video at instagram.com. That’s annoying for viewers.

How can I get all Instagram videos to play within the webpage?

“Watch in Instagram” – that’s what 2 of the 4 instagram videos display below the play button. (I wrote that they say “Play in Instagram”.)

If you look at the page’s source HTML you’ll see the embed HTML is not the same. One is only a static thumbnail image, there is no embedded video to play, one must go to IG to see the video. In the other there is actually an embedded video that one can play on your page.

In each case AFAIK WP makes the exact same request to IG, basically “send me the embed HTML for this video” (via the oEmbed process). So the question is why is IG sending different embed HTML? That I cannot answer. Maybe it has to do with video settings? Some social sites have a setting that disallows direct embedding, I’m not sure about IG. Maybe it has to do with the size of the video? This might be a question better asked through some sort of IG support forum.
