Why does IE8 (or older) make my website go to default background?

Hi,
I am using this theme: https://themeforest.net/item/multimedia-music-video-picture-blog-wp/161039
on my website: https://www.pacificofficial.comWhen I go on it with IE9 (or Safari) the website works fine, however, on IE8 or older the background on my website disappears and it shows the default background, making the website useless as font colours are blending in with the background etc.
Really need to know what I can do to fix this?
