Why does main HTTP request of the page stays on “Waiting” for over 2s?

    Just curious, if GTMetrix reports that the main HTTP request of the page stays on Waiting for more than 2s what would be the causes?

    Almost every request is taking less than 100ms to load except for the main one which is staying on “Waiting” for more than 2s.

    Why would that happen?

    Is the server bad? Should I change it?
    Is this because I load too many js, and css files?
    Do I have something wrong with the core code?

    Any help is highly appreciated.

    Your screenshot is not describing which file the site is loading that takes 2.6 seconds.
    You will need to provide more information, or the URL to your site.

    Hello,

    Is the first/main request… in GTMetrix is simply shown as the URL of the page (also the first request in the Timeline)

    I hope I made myself clear enough.

    I do not have a specific example… I just want to know the causes of this scenario (the first request stays on Waiting for a long time)
