Why does my text widget strip the html from my link?

  • Using a child of the TwentyTen theme, when I enter this in a text widget:

    `<em>Julian Waters to teach at Fall Workshop in Missoula.</em><br />
    Details at <https://www.bigskyscribes.org/cms/bss-workshops/>BSS Workshops</a>. `

    … the emphasis and the line break are honored, but not the link:
    https://www.bigskyscribes.org/cms/

    I don’t need a plugin to have a link in a text widget, right?
