Why does Sell Media plugin turn off when updated? Grrr!

Every time the Sell Media plugin is updated it turns off. All settings are lost. Then it has to be turned on. Associated plugins too.
Aside from a pain in the ass- it takes site offline. it also increases the margin for error setting up all over again.
Can you please fix this? No other plugin turns off for updates for good reason.
