Why does the plugin add one "\" to id's and classes

Hi,
I was wondering why each time i edit a sidebar this character is added before classes and id’s.Ej.
<li id=\\\”li-alternat\\\” class=\\\”sid-pag\\\”>This is confusing me when styling the sidebars with css.
