• If you view this page from firefox it comes out perfect. but if you look at it from IE the text in the posts runs across the WHOLE page.

    By the looks of things – you probably forgot to close a <div> somewhere.

    Its something to do with the actual excerpt or something. You only get it going across the page in Internet Explorer, not in FireFox. (not sure about any other browsers)
    The width of the page is the length of the WHOLE excerpt.

    Listen to what mfields said. Make your code valid. Invalid code can do anything, because it’s broken and incorrect.

    Valid code generally works. Invalid code often does not.
    And this is not optional, the code is either correct or it is not.
