    I have just created a new website. I see a Title section above the page header but it doesn’t show up when I publish.
    If that is expected behaviour, what is the Title for?

    The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • It looks as expected from this side of the pond. A ship image logo, centered, above a horizontal line and below that MAYFLOWER STEPS and below that Find out all about the … with your menu to the right of that.

    …but where has the Title gone? it’s present when I edit the page.

    What title do you expect? If you use the default and post on your “home” page – without creating such a page – the title “Home” will not show – since there is no such page.

    Hey guys,

    Pretty sure the theme doesn’t show the page title on the home page, just like it doesn’t link the site title on the home page either.

    To have a title on the home page you have to add a block to do it!

    It’s possible that the DNS settings haven’t fully propogated yet since setting up the site (I’m using cloudflare for SSL). I’ll wait, as using edit on the published page takes me to a completely different page.

    When that’s happened, I’ll be able to provide a screenshot showing what I mean.

    Ok, here’s a screenshot taken while editing the sample page. It’s the home page for mayflowersteps.co.uk

    What is the point of it being there?
    (I’ve removed it from cloudflare so it’s http:)

    If you set that page to be the home page then the title won’t be shown but if it’s not set as the home page then it is shown.

    Here’s where that decision is made in /template-parts/content/content-page.php …

    	<?php if ( ! is_front_page() ) : ?>
    		<header class="entry-header alignwide">
    			<?php get_template_part( 'template-parts/header/entry-header' ); ?>
    			<?php twenty_twenty_one_post_thumbnail(); ?>
    		</header>
    	<?php elseif ( has_post_thumbnail() ) : ?>
    		<header class="entry-header alignwide">
    			<?php twenty_twenty_one_post_thumbnail(); ?>
    		</header>
    	<?php endif; ?>

    If you want to have a title on the home page then you’ll need to add a Heading Block.
