    Hey,

Could anyone explain to me why “update cart” still exists? Most webshops don’t have this function and it is automatically updated when customers change the numbers in the cart.

I am having a difficult time explaining to some customers that they have to press this button.

Is there no way to make the “proceed to checkout” button in the cart page do a final update cart before? Just to make sure the numbers are up to date.

I know there are plugins and code snippets to make the cart update but some of them are not properly supported. I don’t want to install one and have problems later.
I also see that some don’t work if you use +/- buttons to change quantities.

    Thanks for your help

  • Hi @dyin,

This function exists to help update the cart quantity.

I understand you’d like to remove the “Update Cart” button and do the update automatically when users adjust the products in their cart.

We recommend the Auto Update Cart for WooCommerce extension for this.

    I hope this helps!

@sukafia thanks for the reply. I know the function is there to update the cart quantity. I just don’t understand why woocommerce doesn’t automatically do it without plugins.
It is a bad experience for customers. They don’t understand it as most large stores don’t use it (for good reason). Go to Ikea or any other webshop.

Using a plugin is an extra risk as I am not sure it will be compatible with everything else.

    Hey @dyin

Thank you for sharing your feedback with us!

Most of the solutions I was able to find are in a form of a custom code or premium plugin, meaning that it’s a more premium feature. If you believe this should be on the core WooCommerce plugin, feel free to raise a new enhancement request on our GitHub repository:

    Warm regards,

We haven’t heard back from you in a while, so I’m going to mark this as resolved – if you have any further questions, you can start a new thread.
