• Hello,

I am using the free version and the Facebook button is no more working since several weeks !
When I click on that button, it just returns a popup saying “The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.”
I tried to manually modify the url to post to facebokk, it works for a while then returned “Bad Gateway”.
I then tried to reset to default and I am back to the original error !

    Any help appreciated

  • I’ve had the same problem, both clicking on Facebook and Pinterest shows “The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.”

This is due most definitely to some Lightbox plugin you are using. Are you using Fancybox or any other automatic image lightbox plugin?

Hi, thanks so much for the reply. I don’t recall installing a lightbox plugin. Could it come with the theme though? I use the JustWrite theme.

    Hello,

thanks for looking at this one !

I have no idea if I am using a lightbox plugin, I am using Social Media Feather plugin.
When I tweak/cheat with the post URL I sometimes succeeded to do some Facebook posting but it is not consistent…

As the site is in development, plugin changed quite often and list is longer than before so I cannot exclude a conflict possibility…

Is there any way to track down from where it comes ?

I also experiment the problem with Pintesrest as qg215 but only since very recently.

A lot of plugins along with WordPress itself and the Dynamic News Lite theme so it is very difficult to point a moment in time when the problem started…

I think I will try changing my social plugin…

    My site is here:

Yes some themes (especially Premium ones) do tend to come with some built in form of ligthbox. @qg215 can you link to your site? The other user doesn’t seem to use our icons anymore so I cannot troubleshoot on his site.

This is a known bug with Social Media Feather which I and others reported 4 months ago. It has not been fixed as of version 1.7.9.

Easy FancyBox is at least one lightbox plugin which correctly handles a certain variable in the code, but Social Media Feather does not correctly handle it, which causes the error display in Easy FancyBox. The plugin author of Social Media Feather has chosen to do this to be compatible with other lightbox plugins that also incorrectly handle the variable. I disagree with this approach, because it perpetuates a mistake, and you end up with a ton of mistakes within this area of the WordPress ecosystem.

The discussion and fix is at https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/fancybox-11 . The fix involves editing one file in the plugin and changing one code variable, so if you are comfortable with a tiny bit of code editing, you can fix this yourself – until the next version of this plugin comes out (or the author fixes it).

    Cheers!

As I outlined in this post you can try the development version of Easy Fancybox which contains a fix for this.

Hi @synved, that’s an excellent idea for development sites, but I never use development versions of anything on deployed production sites.

    Cheers!
