Why force us to use a text editor?

    Install the plugin “Classic Editor” to restore the old editor.

    Gutenberg shouldn’t force you to use the text editor (if you mean HTML mode). If that’s happening for you, try checking to make sure the “Disable the visual editor when writing” option is unchecked on the Users > Your Profile page in your dashboard.
