• Hi All,

I am looking for some advice/insight on why (if at all) you should have “registration” on a WordPress Blog? Currently I have it that users need to be registered and logged in to comment and apart from the reduction in potential spam what does/would a registered user get which, if the restriction was not on, a normal commenter would not?

i.e. can we restrict some posts or entice users to read more etc only of they are registered.

Hope this makes sense. I am just trying to ascertain “why” or “what” a registered user gets for their opt-in

    Thanks

    Tony

  • I have the same question – why bother registering? First-time commenters need to be approved, but it seems like the only people who are actually registering are spammers or scrapers. I don’t want to piss off any legit registered users, but what are they actually getting by registering? Would I lose anything by not allowing people to register?

    Thanks,
    Andrew

    nothing.

no, in fact. most people, arguably, dont like to register for blogs.
