Why is 3.8.1 so slow?

  • Why in general is wordpress so slow and why is 3.8.1 slower? I have ran several test and have found wordpress to be the slowest platform on my server. It is also a memory hog. Is there anything being done to improve this lack of performance other than cache everything? I have also sent significant time reading post across the web and everyone is saying the same thing so obviously it is not a new issue.

    Data design is very unstructured. Every plugin has a new set of css and js. The engine has a slow response time.

    Are there articles regarding improving performance?

    Are you referring to your website being slow, or the dashboard?

    I just updated the 3.8.1 wordpress and am losing my mind waiting for the dashboard to load. Please help.

    Same here although updated to 3.8.1 a while ago, today I’m seeing extreme slowness when I login and when I click the dashboard top left, all others load fast posts, users, plugins etc.. Only the dashboard or any sub of it home/updates.

    Disabled pretty much everything on the dashboard screen in case taking a while fetching something…still same issue.

    I have 7 updated 3.8.1 wordpress sites and I feel they got aloth slower. Especially sites with some larger database is several seconds to load. This is very frustrating. Tested diffrent cashe settings but it comes back to that someting is very wrong in 3.8.1 handeling data connections or someting like that.

    Same on the site, in the admin menu and even if i disable all plugins and have no cashing at all with standard twenty twelve theme.

    After some more tests there is someting with older themes and plugins that just dont work good with 3.8.1. My previous tests was affecded by cashing issues also. When testing on a clean install and twenty twelve theme the speeds are very acceptable.

    So aloth of updating on old plugins seems to be nessesary. What is the main chages in 3.8.1 thats causing this?
