why is amp4ads-host-v0.js file being inserted?

Sorry for the delay.

We are not using any WordPress plugins for ads. We are utilizing the Google Ad Manager (previously DFP) ad unit codes generated from the Ad Manager dashboard.

The site url is https://www.inman.com.

We are using AMP plugin for generating the AMP article pages.

I just checked out https://www.inman.com/2019/08/04/watch-are-ibuyers-friend-or-foe/amp/ and see <amp-ad> tags that display your Ad Manager ads. Here’s one of them:

<amp-ad width="300" height="250" type="doubleclick" data-slot="/1018828/AMP_Mobile_ATF_1" json='{"targeting":{"pid":["746702"]}}'> </amp-ad>

When the AMP plugin encounters such a tag, it will automatically enqueue the needed script for it, in this case <script type='text/javascript' src='https://cdn.ampproject.org/v0/amp-ad-0.1.js' async custom-element="amp-ad"></script>.

On the non-AMP version of the page, https://www.inman.com/2019/08/04/watch-are-ibuyers-friend-or-foe/, no AMP JavaScript is enqueued at all.

So that seems all OK to me.

I wasn’t super specific on where I was seeing the /amp4ads-host-v0.js file. I have attached the links to screenshots. We were seeing the file under ‘Network’, and ‘Elements’ tabs for non-AMP version of the articles.

The Initiator column in the Network tab shows that this is initiated by the Ad Manager as it loads your ads.

Personally I don’t know why exactly Ad Manager does that, but according to this email thread it even happens when not using AMP at all.

In other words, this is not caused by AMP or the AMP plugin. I recommend contacting them to find out more.
