Why is gallery comments not working?

I’m using gmedia with phantom.
When I click on the photo comment link I get a loading animation and no more. I’ve waited an hour, and nothing. I’ve tried different browsers, I can’t find any settings relating to this. I’m pretty new to WordPress and i didn’t set up the initial site. It just got handed to me to look after. It’s not been uploaded yet and is on a friends server.
The box in settings is ticked to allow comments.
