Why is it so hard to easily post with google OMG?

  • We have a variety of devices. iPhones that we use for photos that are all linked to a single combined google photos account.

    A chrome book for easier writing. Fire tablets for an inbetween device size.

    What I’d like to do is easily create a new post with a selection of images in to write about.

    From my iPhone I can’t add from google photos. I can share photos from the iOS photos app but that doesn’t always work well.

    I can go to WordPress.com and upload from google photos which is around the houses for something simple.

    I can’t add multiple images to a post at once. I have to go into the add image part over and over again.

    The kindle fire app has a multi select picker that only selects a single image.

    This just seems toooooo hard.

  • If you don’t want to store photos Via the WordPress media then that’s not a fault in WordPress itself.

    The ‘problem’ is akin to the effort required to find the photo or resource the first time and upload it to WordPress itself. You pay that price to include the image the first time. The media mech and then either of the two ‘built in’ editors makes that easier for reuse.

    Using a photo from an external location is slightly more difficult.

    I store some of my images over on the Interplanetary File System if they are going to be needed permanently so I do understand the extra effort needed. Use the media uploads in WordPress and store offline the content you wish after the fact.

    If you want to relieve some traffic then consider a CDN and use a cache plugin like W3Total Commander. I don’t know of a good solution for offline storage yet other then manual intervention.

    Are you asking about using a particular app on your phone to create content?

    I’m happy to store them in the wp media library. Getting them there is difficult when they are in google. There’s no access to google photos from the upload area, even in a chrome book

    OK, so you want to move files from Google to WP without downloading them to your device first. Would this work for you?
