Periodically (every couple of days) LiteSpeed Servers are accessing my website.

I do run the LiteSpeed plug-in and my shared hosting uses Litespeed web server but I don’t see any reason why LiteSpeed is accessing my website. And it’s a “daft” URL.

    Amsterdam, Netherlands visited https://psamathe.net/?

    IP: 206.189.100.139 Hostname: 206.189.100.139
    LiteSpeed-Image/2.9.6

It’s blocked anyway as it’s running on Digital Ocean and Digital Ocean host so many hackers that the entire Digital Ocean network is blocked as I’m just tired of their continual hacking attempts.

But with LiteSpeed, ages ago I did enable CCSS (putting in whitelists for LiteSpeed IPs) but it didn’t work properly/well so stopped it. I have never enabled any image optimisation.

Just in case you need the info, report number: GBHDRTLO

    Hi,

If you didn’t use any of online service like CCSS and image optimization , then I think this request was for page speed score test.

Does LiteSpeed randomly check web sites as although it happens to run LiteSpeed web server, there is no reason for contact beyond any other web site in the world.

So does LiteSpeed do this to all web sites because it checking is a regular thing?

    Hi,

This could also be the notification push/pull.

If you turn off notifications , this should no longer happens

Where is “notifications Push/Pull”. Can’t find it antwhere (never knowingly enabled it). Found “Automatically Feed News” but it’s always been off.

    Hi,

Version 3 was a nightmare. Trashed pretty well all of my settings, kept asking for a seerver key (even though I don’t use any cloud stuff, no image optimisation, no CCSS, etc.).

It’s waiting on your support to have time to run an investigations to what’s wrong. Took me some time to sort out the settings to get my site working again. So not keen on upgrading until the issues are sorted.

The issue here has been going on since before V3 release.

    Hi,

Apologize for the inconvenience , v3 has some problems intially , but it is stabilizing now if you wish to give it another try.

This request are only for following reasons :

Score check , Image optimization , CCSS generation , Responsive placeholder generation and notifications.

Alternatively , you could simply block that request.

    RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} "LiteSpeed-Image" [NC]
    RewriteRule .* - [F]

It’s not causing a massive issue (Digital Ocean are entirely blocked anyway (they are an ongoing hack nuisance) and you are (largely) running on Digital Ocean so included in their block.

I don’t have any of the features you listed enabled. I have in the past (CCSS) but that was disabled over 6 months ago.

Digital Ocean being moved to blocks nearer the “internet” now so they’ll not be clogging-up logs any more with their hackers (do they actually host anybody other than hackers?)

    Hi,

Well , not sure what you mean about the hacker thing , but DO is a good provider from our point of view ??

Certainly some people may abuse the server , but I assume that happens to all kind of providers, not particularly to DO.

    Best regards,
