Why is my Avatar set when I haven't set one?

  • I noticed that my Avatar is set to something I haven’t set it to, and it links me to a website to “edit” it. I haven’t set any avatar and I don’t particularly want one, just the anon one is fine with me.

    What happened? It looks like someone has got into my account? Or is it a forum thing?

    You probably set up an account there with your current avatar.
    you can always log in and change it. It will be linked to your email address so that its recognised globally wherever you register.
    Check at gravatar, my avatar is the same, can be useful.

    Do you mean your avatar here? That’s the default because you don’t have a customized one. As Mikey said, you can go to gravatar.com if you wanna upload your own.

    The avatar on your account is held at gravatar.
    If you’re sure you don’t have an account there, check the email adress in your profile because the avatar is linked to an email adress.

    @phuile: The avatar displayed for your account in these forums uses your Gravatar.

    If you haven’t set a Gravatar for the email address you used to create your account here then we use one of the default auto-generated unique Gravatars so it is easy to determine visually who is posting in a thread.

    This forum uses the “Monster” auto-generated gravatars which why you have a monster as an avatar here.

    If you want to customise it head over to Gravatar.com and you can do it there – this will then get used anywhere you use your email address on a gravatar enabled blog / forum to comment / post.
