Why is my homepage being redirected – Help please!

  • I’m new to WordPress, but I don’t think this should be happening. When I type https://www.mydomain.com into any browser, on any computer, it goes to a particular blog post on my site. I guess it’s being redirected there, but I don’t know why or how. If I click on the Home tab (button) on my site, the same thing happens. I can’t find anyway to get to get to my home page.

    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Things to try:

    1 – Make sure that in Settings –> Reading you have selected ‘Front page displays’ –> Your latest posts (and not a static page or post page)

    If that is not the problem, then:

    2 – Try the Default theme
    3 – Deactivate the plugins
    4 – Reset the permalinks

    See if any of the above helps…

    Thanks so much! The problem is caused by the Redirection plugin (John Godly), but specifically causes the problem. For now I have deactivated it, but if anyone has an idea of what I need to change in the settings of this plugin to make it work correctly, I’d love to know.

    See under Tools –> Redirection, if you can find that specific redirection (if you see the home page listed). Then delete it.

    Unless you have set up a lot of redirections and/or need the logs up until now, you could also go to the Redirection Options and delete everything, so you can start from scratch.

    The problem seems to be that there within Groups. I had not added any redirections to the plugin yet. However, in Groups, there was a list of 8 – 10, so I delelted them all and now it is working. I hope I didn’t delete anything important?? And I hope they don’t reappear on their own.
