Why is site stats not logging all site views?

I set up a competition on the site yesterday and have received over 2,000 entries overnight, however, according to the site stats, there have only been 79 views today!
The only way to enter the competition is through the contact form on the relevant competition page, so I really don’t get why the site stats page is not logging the views!
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
