• Aloha, I’m having this problem on several blog posts where the custom post url is numbered, and “-2” is automatically appended to the permalink. There are no duplicate posts that have been published, are in drafts, or in the trash, so I don’t know why this is happening.

If you type in https://melissadanielle.com/148 it will take you to https://melissadanielle.com/148-2/, so what’s happening here?

    Mahalo for your time.

The slug of posts cannot be all numeric by default, because this interferes with the internal WordPress multi-page rules.

For example, you can have https://example.com/postname/2 and that indicates the second page of that post. Posts can be multi-page by using the <!--nextpage--> tag in them.

If you need numeric slugs, then you can enable them by disabling the multi-page functionality. This plugin will do that:

Thank you for your reply and suggestion.

This plugin hasn’t been updated in 2 years, and it’s not working with the current version of WP, but I’m going to hold on to it in case they get around to it.

    Thanks.
