Why is the opening tag body and div included in the header.php?

    Why aren’t these tags put in the index.php instead?

    Because there’s often other elements preceding it that also need to be within a sub-template file like header.php. Elements like the navigation menu, logos, site titles, site descriptions, etc.

    Why is it only the opening tags? where is the closing tag?

    Check footer.php
